I love it when you’re studying and it leads you to verses that have already been highlighted in your Bible. That happened to me recently. As I looked at the verses I remembered the season I was in when I studied those verses. The verses were Judges 6:13-16 “And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the Lord be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt? but now the Lord hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites. And the Lord looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee? And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house. And the Lord said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man.”
Without realizing it, I needed to read these words again today. Life has been a bit overwhelming the past few months and I’ve found myself saying to the Lord just as Gideon did, “I can’t do this, this is bigger than me!” But I found comfort in the words of the Lord, “Surely I will be with thee”. I love how His Word comforts me when I’m feeling overwhelmed with the circumstances of life. When some days just seem way too hard, He’s always there to breathe His Word into my circumstance and it always calms me.
So, find comfort in whatever you’re facing today. When it seems that the circumstances are just too overwhelming or doing what needs to be done seem to be bigger than yourself, turn to the One that can breathe truth into your situation. For He says, “Surely I will be with thee”.
