A Gentle Reminder for the Hurting

A Gentle Reminder for the Hurting

There’s a song that has been rumbling through my heart and mind lately. The song is Throne Room by Charity Gayle. A portion of the song’s lyrics are listed below:

“The veil is torn and the doors fling wide
I see glory as I run inside
The throne room, before You, I bow”

When I heard these words, I was moved to tears. It reminded me of Queen Esther’s story. King Ahasuerus had issued a proclamation to destroy, kill, and annihilate all Jews. Upon hearing of this proclamation, Mordecai (Queen Esther’s uncle) sent word to Esther explaining the edict to her and commanded her to go to the king to beg his favor and plead with him on behalf of her people. If anyone went to the king inside the inner court without being called, there was only one law – to be put to death, except the one to whom the king holds out the golden scepter in which they would live. Esther explained that the king had not called her to come to him in thirty days. Esther sends a final reply that Mordecai was to gather all the Jews in Susa (Esther’s hometown) and hold a fast for her for three days, and then she would go against the law and go into the king. Esther Chapter 5 states that she prepared herself to see the king. In my imagination, I see Esther dressed in her royal robes and going to the inner court to see King Ahasuerus. As she approaches, she flings open the heavy doors and runs to him as he sits on his throne inside the throne room. I hear the crowd gasp as Esther falls at the king’s feet. The king then holds out the golden scepter, for she has found favor in his sight.

When I heard the song lyrics above, I couldn’t help but recount that scene, but it was I who was running and falling at the King’s feet. For I found favor in His sight when He sent His Only Son, Jesus, to the cross to die for my sins. The veil was finally torn in the temple, and access to the King was granted both day and night. Running inside the throne room before You, I bow, Lord. For in Your throne room, bowed at Your feet, I can lay every burden I can no longer bear, leave my hurts and find true refuge.

I want to remind you if you are hurting deeply or if you can’t seem to find your footing after a painful loss that there is hope. I too have been there, and to be honest, I’ve been there recently. You can go to the King’s throne room also, there you will find refuge and true healing. Don’t walk, friend; run, for He is there waiting!
