Learning in the Quietness of the Morning

Learning in the Quietness of the Morning

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?  Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” Matthew 6:25-26

This morning I was up early before the light had time to peek through my windows. A soft rain is also falling. I often will pick a day at random where I will praise God for all His goodness. I won’t pray to ask for anything during that day. It’s a time where I try to pay attention and be more aware of Him throughout that day. Today is one of those days. So, as I was praising Him in the darkness of the morning, I could hear birds just singing away. They seemed to be right outside my window — such peaceful sounds. I praised Him for the quietness of this morning and for allowing me to hear the rain and the birds praise His name this morning.

Then the sounds started to pierce my heart. I noticed that the birds were singing in the dark and in the rain. At first, I thought this was strange, but then why wouldn’t they? It states in Matthew 6:26 that they have a heavenly Father that cares for them. They don’t sow nor reap nor gather into barns. They’re able to sing in these circumstances because they know that their Father has everything under control. He’s not going to let them need for anything.

It states in that same chapter that we are more valuable than the birds in which He tends to so carefully. Yet we catch ourselves struggling and wondering if God is going to come through this time for us. What if we lived our lives as the birds do? What if we praised Him in the darkness and when it’s raining down trouble all around us? What if amid the storm, we praise Him instead of worrying if we will make it through it? So the lessons that God taught me this morning is that He loves us, and if we continue to seek and praise Him even in the darkest and rainiest times of our lives, He will bring us peace and joy that passes all understanding.

My friend, whatever you are going through, remember that you have a heavenly Father that cares and loves you. Praise Him in the midst of your storm and find sweet rest and comfort in knowing that He will meet your every need!
