F.E.A.R.
F.E.A.R. When I think or hear this word, I know what it looks like in my life. I can feel it, smell it, and vision it. The reason is that I have stared it in the face more times than I care to admit.
I know how fear can be paralyzing and debilitating, how it can suck the life right out of you, how it snatches your hopes and your dreams. The reason fear is so hard is it never gives up. But you shouldn’t either. God never intends for you to be in chains by this thing called fear. “For this season, I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” 2 Timothy 2:6-7.
I remember the first time that God began to deal with me on the subject of fear. He began to show me how controlled by fear I was. It had me bound, and the sad thing was I never realized it to be what it was. I thought, “Oh, this is how God created me.” I never realized that the late-night tossing, the nervousness, and the almost panicky moments, were each based on fear.
Can I whisper this truth to you today? Fear is nothing but lies that Satan tells us to keep us defeated! He wants you paralyzed to the point that you can’t move. He wants you to think that this is the way God made you. Satan wants to keep you so bound in these chains that you never fulfill God’s purpose for your life!
Your fear may look and act differently from mine, but it has the same common goal. To steal, kill, and destroy. How do we defeat satan at his games? Trust me, friend, he is playing games with you, and if you continue to play along, it will cost you everything! The way we defeat him is by realizing what our fears are and asking God to help us to break these chains through His Word. The book of Psalm is my go-to book whenever I need to believe truth over the lies of this one called fear.
Now, stop playing on fear’s playground! Break the chains and trust in the One true God to deliver you and keep you!
